Its that time of year again, one of my favourite international meetings the 2015 Breeders' Cup from Keeneland.
Live in the UK on ATR.
Below you will find tips for all four Breeders' Cup races on Friday along with a write up for each, starting with the Juvenile Turf.
7.30pm UK time: BREEDERS' CUP JUVENILE TURF (GRADE 1) 1m
Good opening race to kick start the Breeders' Cup 2015. I've pinned it down to two, AIROFORCE (2ND) and Camelot Kitten. I don't see a European win in this one. Granted Airoforce beat Camelot Kitten (2 1/2 length 2nd) in the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland over slightly further at the start of October, based on the result of the race their should be improvement to come from Camelot Kitten but I still prefer to stick with Airoforce who should keep his unbeaten record intact.
8.10pm UK time: LAS VEGAS BREEDERS' CUP DIRT MILE (GRADE 1) 1m
This races revolves around Liam's Map, Lea and Bradester for me. Todd Pletcher has decided to duck the Breeders' Cup Classic with Liam's Map for this race. In my opinion this is no piece of cake for him. Certainly the talk horse of the race and the fav but lets not forget about LEA (2ND). Disappointing in the Grade 1 Whitney Stakes at Saratoga in August (Liam's Map 2nd in that race) but recently a close 2nd at Woodbine in the Grade 1 Mile on turf yes, but may well set him up for this and I mention Bradester (drawn 2) who could well take on Liam's Map (drawn 3) with Mr. Z (drawn 4) leaving Lea to sweep by and pick up the pieces.
8.50pm UK time: BREEDERS' CUP JUVENILE FILLIES TURF (GRADE 1) 1m
Plenty of support for the AOB trained Alice Springs who may well take this but her trainers stats in this race don't look great (6 runners all beat). Last Waltz looks interesting joining the Chad Brown stable and running with lasix but I am going to go with the Mark Casse trained CATCH A GLIMPSE (WON @ 6/1) who won a Grade 2 over the mile on turf at Woodbine by 5 lengths recently. Also won at Woodbine in an Allowance race again on turf (7f). The switch to turf from dirt clearly a plus!
9,35pm UK time: LONGINES BREEDERS' CUP DISTAFF (GRADE 1) 1m1f
Plenty to mention in this including I'm A Chatterbox, Stopchargingmaria, Wedding Toast, Curalina, Yahilwa and Got Lucky. I am going to go straight in selecting GOT LUCKY trained by the mighty Todd Pletcher. She won a Grade 1 at Keeneland recently over this trip on the dirt beating Yahilwa (3rd) and Untapable (2nd - by a neck). Also 2nd to Sheer Drama (Untapable 3rd) at Saratoga in a Grade 1 again over the same trip and conditions. Winning or being the bridesmaid in her last 5 races.
Juvenile Turf: AIROFORCE 2ND
Dirt Mile: LEA 2ND
Juvenile Fillies Turf: CATCH A GLIMPSE WON @ 6/1
Distaff: GOT LUCKY
