T4P Dubai World Cup tips and thoughts

2:10 Godolphin Mile Sponsored By Etisalat (Group 2)

TIP: WESTERN ARISTOCRAT (best odds)

All the talk is about Godolphin's African Story but WESTERN ARISTOCRAT is a Grade 1 winner at Belmont and is a big player in a race that not many are fancied. Ridden by Ryan Moore for Jeremy Noseda.

2:45 Dubai Gold Cup Sponsored By Al Tayer Motors (Group 3)

TIPS: OPINION POLL, EACH WAY: MAKANI BISTY (best odds)

This race appears to centre around Godolphin's OPINION POLL and Fox Hunt. It's interesting Frankie jumps ship from Fox Hunt to ride Opinion Poll (tip in itself?). MAKANI BISTY looks a solid each way player, was placed 4th in a Grade 1 in Japan over 2m on quick ground last year (Eishin Flash who runs in the Dubai World Cup was 2nd). Should place.

3:25 UAE Derby Sponsored By The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group (Group 2)

TIPS: MICKDAAM, EACH WAY: BALADA SALE (best odds)

Mike De Kock's MICKDAAM is lightly raced and has improved, was 2nd to Kinglet in the UAE 2000 Guineas and then landed the Al Bastakiya last time. Argentinian BALADA SALE looks interesting and is my each way tip, has won the Argentinian 1000 Guineas and Oaks on dirt and could be anything. Interesting.

4:00 Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored By Emirates NBD (Group 1)

TIP: EAGLE REGIMENT (best odds)

EAGLE REGIMENT is not at his best over 6f and will be suited by the return to 5f. Has beat Joy And Fun in a Group 1 over 5f in January at Sha Tin. Progressive.

4:35 Dubai Golden Shaheen Sponsored By Gulf News (Group 1)

TIPS: SEPOY, EACH WAY: HITCHENS (best odds)

Australian SEPOY is the world's highest rated 3 year old sprinter, he's won 4 Group 1 races over this trip last year. He's never run on a artificial surface but has had time in Dubai to prepare and should give Rocket Man a good go. HITCHENS is a cracking each way with De Sousa onboard, closely matched with Krypton Factor.

5:25 Dubai Duty Free (Group 1)

TIPS: MUTAHADEE, EACH WAY: DARK SHADOW (best odds)

Mike De Kock has a serious chance with MUTAHADEE, can be forgiven when 3rd to Master Of Hounds in the Jebel Hatta. Without any problems should be winning this. DARK SHADOW looks interesting and a place could be likely.

6:00 Dubai Sheema Classic Presented By Longines (Group 1)

TIP: BEATEN UP (best odds)

Lots of talk horses in this and that includes BEATEN UP, winner of a Group 3 at Newbury. Fancy him to step up to a higher level for William Haggas.

6:40 Dubai World Cup Sponsored By Emirates Airline (Group 1)

TIPS: EISHIN FLASH, EACH WAY: ZAZOU (best odds)

The final race is the Dubai World Cup with a whole host of international talent. I like Japan's EISHIN FLASH, won the Japanese Derby in 2010 and has continued to run well at top level since. First run on tapeta and should go well at nice odds. ZAZOU looks good for a each way place.

Montjeu dead

Coolmore Stud today confirmed the highest-rated racehorse ever by the great Sadler’s Wells, Montjeu, has died.

In 2011, Montjeu sired 15 individual Group/Graded winners, equalling Galileo.

Since being retired to stud in 2001 some of the champions he has sired include:

Hurricane Run – No. 1 in 2005 World Thoroughbred Racehorse Rankings & 2005 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe

Motivator – winner of the 2005 Epsom Derby

Scorpion – winner of 2005 Grand Prix de Paris, 2005 St. Leger Stakes, & 2007 Coronation Cup

Authorized – winner of the 2007 Epsom Derby

Frozen Fire – winner of the 2008 Irish Derby

Montmartre – winner of the 2008 Grand Prix de Paris

Fame and Glory – winner of the 2009 Irish Derby, and 2010 Coronation Cup

Hurricane Fly – winner of the 2011 Champion Hurdle

Pour Moi – winner of the 2011 Epsom Derby

As a racehorse, Montjeu will be most fondly remembered for winning the French and Irish Derbies, Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes.

2012 Dubai World Cup Post Position Draw

Group 1 US$10 million Dubai World Cup, sponsored by Emirates Airline
Master Of Hounds (Post 1) – Yousuf Al Sayegh, Racing Manager said: “There was only [gates] 1 or 14 left (when our name was pulled) and we preferred to be inside.”
Eishen Flash (Post 2) – Hideaki Fujiwara, trainer said: “Actually I wanted to take the middle part of the gate, but those posts were all taken. I decided on the stage between the 2 and 9, and took 2. This horse showed good performance from the inside at home, so it’s okay.”
Zazou (Post 3) – Werner Heinz, owner said: “I would have preferred to be more in the middle, but those places were taken. I think number three is very good. I think you’re better off inside than outside.”
Olivier Peslier, jockey for Zazou commented: “I’m very happy with the draw. We’re just next to So You Think and I’ve got Master of Hounds on the other side, so those two should keep me out of trouble.”
So You Think (Post 4) – Keith Dalton, representing trainer Aiden O’Brien said: “I was on the phone to Aidan O’Brien and he chose the 4th position, so I guess we’re happy.”
Smart Falcon (Post 5) – Ken Kozaki, trainer remarked: “It was an ideal draw. It was not too inside. It was what we wanted to draw.”
Yutaka Take (jockey) added: “It was good for us to draw earlier and we did not want more inside than post 5, so it was a good draw.”
Planteur (Post 6) – Ahmad Al Falasi, owner: “We wanted somewhere between 4 and 7 so I was happy that 6 was available.”
Royal Delta (Post 7) – Bill Mott, trainer said: “It’s the middle of the field. She’ll get a good look at the field from there and number seven has been our lucky number. We’d love for her to win. The reason we’re really here is to see if we can win. I can’t predict the outcome but she is doing really well – well enough to win a race like this.”
Monterosso (Post 8) – Godolphin’s Racing Manager Simon Crisford said: “We talked to all of our jockeys in the race and they felt from stall 8 outward is the place to be. It can get very tight on the inside, especially if the pace is slow. If you miss the kick, you’re likely to be in trouble. The pace looks likely to come from Game On Dude in stall 14, which has panned out well for us. Monterosso can sit handy, he finishes his races well.”
Silver Pond (Post 9) – Doug Watson trainer said: “The gate is good. He can push on from there and hopefully travel around mid-field. He doesn’t have the greatest turn of foot, so the idea will be to be just behind the pace and kick off the turn.”
Transcend (Post 10) – The owner Koji Maeda said: “Number 10 is what I wanted to draw because we can watch the other runners inside of us.“
Capponi (Post 11) – Godolphin’s Racing Manager Simon Crisford said: “Being on the outside is preferable to being on the rail. Capponi just needs a handy position to be out of trouble and to have a clear run. He likes to start building on it from the home bend and he should have his chance to do that from his draw. The question remains whether he is good enough but (jockey) Ahmed Ajtebi has built up a good rapport with the horse, who fully deserves his chance”
Prince Bishop (Post 12) and Mendip (Post 13) – Trainer Saeed bin Suroor said: “I spoke to Frankie (Dettori) before the draw and he said he would prefer between (stalls) 8 and 12 for Prince Bishop and we’ve drawn 12, so I’m happy with that. I wanted him to be relaxed and happy, so I think being out wide is best for him. Mendip would also be best being out wide and I’m happy with his position. He prefers to be handy in his races and he can be from there. We’ll probably ride Prince Bishop in behind them. They’ve both did their final pieces of work three days ago, and it went well, so we just need luck in the race now.”
Game On Dude (Post 14) – Owner Bernie Schiappa said: “Perfect position. Lanni (part owner of Game on Dude who passed away last year) was born on March 14, so 14 is a special number for us. It’s perfect. The outside is fine with me. I can’t repeat what Bob (trainer Baffert) said on the phone.”
Jockey Chantal Sutherland concluded: “It’s fine. Whatever happens, I’ll deal with it. He has a tendency to sometimes break slow and if he was to do that, it could put us in a bit of a predicament on the rail, so on the outside we have more options.”

Its flat time!

Flat action is back in the UK on Saturday (31st March) so in honour of this I've changed the website background. The background is from the Investec Derby 2011 at Epsom Downs which the now retired POUR MOI (image below) won with exciting young jockey Mickael Barzalona onboard. Pour Moi was tipped by T4P back in June.

Will T4P be in the Racing Post Top 100 Racing Tweeters tomorrow?

Tomorrow Racing Post will be publishing the Top 100 Racing Tweeters and I'm wondering if tips4punters will be in the top 100?

Since tips4punters joined twitter back in October 2010, with lots of hard work and time I have quickly become a respected tipster on twitter and I like to think I have a great, friendly relationship with all my 5,000+ followers. I am as most know very passionate about horse racing and continue to help punters from all around the world and mostly importantly all my tips are FREE.

It would be an honour and privilege to be in the top 100 and a huge achievement on top of what I'm doing right now.

We shall all find out tomorrow...

Malton trainer Malcolm Jefferson saddled a double a last week’s Cheltenham Festival and he paraded his John Smith’s Grand National hope According To Pete, winner of the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock in January, at Aintree today.

Other leading contenders include the David Pipe-trained Junior, winner of the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2010 and the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Handicap Chase at the 2011 Cheltenham Festival, who is a 10/1 chance with Betfred after being beaten a short-head in a Doncaster handicap chase on March 3.
The Alan King-trained West End Rocker has not run since winning the Betfred Becher Handicap Chase over the National fences at Aintree on December 3 and is 16/1 with Betfred for the big race.
